Made in the Midlands weekly round up - 07/04/17

Posted on: Apr 7th

Made in the Midlands are delighted to announce that engineering services business adi Group, are the official headline sponsor of the 2017 Made in the Midlands Exhibition.

On Thursday 25th May at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry there will be 200 companies exhibiting their services at the exhibition. Made in the Midlands anticipate over 2,000 guests with a vested interest in the Midlands manufacturing industry to attend our biggest ever show.

Group Strategic Account Director at adi Group, James Sopwith stated: “We’re a proud Midlands business, with our Headquarters in Birmingham. The manufacturing base in the Midlands is key, not only to our business, but for the Midlands Engine and the wider manufacturing output. For us to be able to support this community as a headline sponsor gives us a great opportunity to support growth in this region. Register your ticket to the event here.

We are also thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a place on the All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG).

The APMG is a cross-party coalition of Parliamentarians and manufacturing sector organisations which works to develop new industrial policy ideas, critique existing government decision-making around manufacturing, communicate within Parliament the importance of a well-balanced productive economy, and help the manufacturing community better engage with the policy process.

Jason comments: “During a meeting with Dr George Dibb, Head of Manufacturing Design and Innovation - Policy Connect in London, it was agreed that both Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire would have a place with the APMG. This resembles yet another win for Made in the Midlands members as we continue to ensure the voice of Midlands manufacturers and engineers are heard at the highest levels in order to influence government policy and better understand  the needs of the sector in our region.

PP Control & Automation unveils £1m extension to support £40m sales target

A new £1m factory extension has been unveiled today by PP Control & Automation as it singled its intention to double sales from £20m to £40m by 2021.

The company, which works with many of the world’s most successful machinery builders, had added a further 1,000 sq metres of production space to its existing 4,500 sq metre facility in Cheslyn Hay, in order to facilitate growth in new technology markets and interest from a wider international customer base.

“We have very ambitious growth plans to double turnover and this will only be possible by ensuring we have a facility in the UK that can provide us with the space needed to meet our current and future customer requirements,” explained Tony Hague, Managing Director.

“The £1m investment, in the immediate light of the Brexit vote, shows our commitment to creating a world class operation and we will showcase our new capabilities to clients in the food processing & packaging, machine tool, medical, printing, semiconductor and scientific machinery sectors.

MCS accredited to latest ISO standards and produce case study

A business critical  M340 PLC needed replacing at Yodel’s Lichfield Depot. The replacement was required urgently to ensure the Depot was running with the New PLC before the Christmas peak period.

Andrew Rowe, Engineering Manager commented: “I’d like to express my sincere thanks to the whole team at MCS who completed the project. The time scale given to MCS for the design and build of the PLC was extremely small and coupled with the set installation period made this project what we thought very challenging. But right from day one when they took on the project it was handled with complete professionalism. With good communication throughout the whole process, through to the  successful completion of the project on time.”

Whether it’s searching for the right product, offering expertise or fulfilling an order, MSC takes commitment to quality very seriously. MSC has built reliable and measurable processes to make sure its products and services provide exceptional value that helps our customers drive greater productivity, profitability, and growth.

Mike Almond, Managing Director at MSC commented: “We’re delighted to have been accredited to ISO 9001: 2015 Certification. Our aim has always been to maintain our high standards of quality for our customers. As a value-led business, it’s a huge achievement to be recommended for this certification ahead of the required timeframe. Having accomplished this transition so far in advance of the recommended timeline also separates us from other national competitors.”

adi Group, has launched a new business to further enhance its service offering for the food & beverage (F&B) sector.

Providing engineering services to the food and beverage industry has been a core part of adi Group’s activities since it was established in 1990. Via this strategy, we now have over 25 specialist engineering service divisions within the company, each one being driven by a leader in their respective field. By creating a business specifically focused on the food and beverage sector, we can now further increase the value we add to our customers in this specific marketplace.
